Nat in the Eye

Posted by: Duke

We had great weather this past week. One could feel Easter in the air. With temperatures in the high 60’s and low 70’s, the shorts came out. It always feels good to put the shorts on after winter and find that they still fit. After Duke came home from work, we went for a walk. The air felt good on our faces and bare calves. Down by the Shell station at the edge of town, the frogs were croaking. And cardinals could be seen in the trees. As we walked over the bridge, the nats were out in full force. The rule over the bridge is no talking while walking through a herd of nats. Sometimes though we break that rule.

About two blocks from home, a nat flew in my eye. Funny thing about a dying nat, they sting and smell. After feeling around with the tip of my finger for what seemed like way too long, I finally got the “bugger” out. The natectomy was a success.  Rule number two cast your eyes down when approaching flying nats.
